Md Moinul Islam, PhD, PE, SMIEEE, is a seasoned professional in the electrical engineering field with extensive experience in transmission planning and interconnection studies. Currently serving as a Senior Planning Engineer in the Dynamics Studies Department at ERCOT since June 2022, prior roles include Interconnection Planning Engineer at Q CELLS and Planning Engineer III at ERCOT. Islam's expertise encompasses reliable and cost-effective transmission planning, economic analysis of interconnection projects, and conducting detailed studies for generating unit retirements. In academia, Islam held positions as Adjunct Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of South Carolina, contributing to research and education in distributed energy resources and power systems. Islam holds a PhD and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, as well as a Bachelor's degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
