Earlier in their career, from August 1997 to October 2007, Misty worked as a Realtor and Administrative Assistant at ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc., providing administrative support to top producer Steve Bursey. Misty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University.
