Paul Miller has an extensive work experience, primarily in the insurance and legal sectors. Paul started their career as an Associate at Schiff Hardin LLP in 2000 and worked there until 2003. Paul then served as an Assistant General Counsel at the State of Illinois, Office of the Governor from 2004 to 2006. In 2007, they joined the Illinois State Treasurer's Office as Deputy Chief of Staff/General Counsel, a position they held until 2011. Following that, they worked as Vice President at Grosvenor Capital Management from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, Paul served as the Special Deputy Receiver/Chief Executive Officer at the Office of the Special Deputy, managing insurance liquidations, rehabilitations, and conservations. Paul was responsible for representing Illinois at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on receivership and troubled company issues. Most recently, they have worked at EquiTrust Life Insurance Company, starting as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Governance in 2015, then becoming the Chief Operating Officer from 2015 to 2019. Currently, they are the Chief Legal Officer at EquiTrust, overseeing legal affairs, compliance, IT, government relations, rating agencies, and facilities management.
Paul Miller's education history includes earning a JD degree in Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology. Paul attended this institution from 1997 to 2000. Prior to that, they obtained a BA degree in Political Science and Speech Communications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1993 to 1997.
