Raphael Saavedra is a highly skilled research scientist with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as a Staff Research Scientist at Equilibrium Energy since May 2023, Raphael previously held positions as a Senior Researcher and Power Systems Researcher at Invenia Labs from January 2020 to March 2023, focusing on virtual trading in various North American electricity markets and developing market clearing simulations. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Scientist at LAMPS PUC-Rio, where consultancy was provided for major Brazilian distribution companies, and software was developed for probabilistic forecasts and contracting strategies. Raphael began as a Summer Research Intern at the Illinois Institute of Technology and previously interned at LAMPS PUC-Rio, working on statistical models for wind power generation forecasts in Brazil. Educational qualifications include an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering - Operations Research and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, complemented by an international exchange at the University of Maryland.
