Michael Richards has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Michael has held roles such as ID physician Covid Advisory Lead Group at Epworth since 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne since 2006. From 2002 to 2021, they were the Director of the VICNISS Coordinating Centre for Surveillance of Healthcare associated Infections. Additionally, from 2000 to 2021, they worked as an Infectious Disease Physician at The Royal Melbourne Hospital & NorthWestern Mental Health, Epworth Hospital. During this time, they also served as the Director of the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service (VIDS) and played a crucial role in expanding the clinical infectious disease service and developing Australia's first web-based antimicrobial stewardship program.
