Shimon Eckhouse has a long and distinguished career in the medical and technology industries. Shimon began their career in 1969 as a scientist, team leader and head of department at Rafael, Armament Development Authority of Israel. In 1986, they moved to Maxwell Technologies as Head of Product Development and Technical Director. In 1992, they founded ESC Medical Systems (now Lumenis), where they served as Founder, Chairman and CEO. The success of ESC (Lumenis) was based on the invention of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) in 1992. In 2000, they co-founded Syneron Candela and served as Co-founder and Chairman until recently. Syneron-Candela is a global leader in aesthetic medical devices with 2016 revenue of approximately $300M. In 2001, they co-founded and became Chairman of Tulip Ltd., Rapid Medical Ltd., and Opticul Diagnostic Ltd. In 2005, they co-founded Epitomee Medical and served as Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board. In 2008, they also co-founded Rapid Medical and served as Co-Founder and Chairman Of The Board. In 2014, they founded Alon MedTech Ventures and served as Founder, owner and Chairman. Alon's current portfolio consists of 15 medical technology companies. In 2016, they co-founded Theranica Bio-Electronics Ltd. and served as Co-Founder and Chairman of the board. In 2017, they co-founded Sofwave and served as Co founder and chairman.
Shimon Eckhouse obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from UC Irvine between 1975 and 1978. Shimon also received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between 1963 and 1967.
