Johannes Welsch

Biodiversity & Biosecurity Team Leader - Central at Environment Canterbury

Johannes Welsch is an experienced professional in biodiversity and biosecurity, currently serving as the Biodiversity & Biosecurity Team Leader and Manager of Zone Delivery at Environment Canterbury since September 2016. With a robust academic background, Johannes holds a PhD in Agro-Ecology and Master's degrees in Natural Resources Management & Ecological Engineering and Natural Resources Management and Policy from Lincoln University and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, respectively. Previous roles include Central Zone Manager, Zone Delivery Lead, and Biodiversity Officer at Environment Canterbury, as well as Graduate Research Teaching Assistant at Lincoln University and Event Coordinator at Te Ara Kakariki. Additional qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Forest Management and Forest Engineering from The University of Göttingen and the University of Valencia, and ongoing studies in Te reo Māori at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
