Derek Walsh is an accomplished transportation professional with extensive experience in public transport management and planning. Currently serving as the Manager of Public Transport Operations at Environment Canterbury since January 2023, Derek previously held significant roles such as Spectator Transport Manager for the Bus for Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with Transport for West Midlands and Director at DW Transport Planning. Derek's background includes leadership positions with Glasgow 2014 Limited, overseeing the transport logistics for the Commonwealth Games, and serving as a Principal Transport Planner at AECOM, leading a Christchurch transport planning team. Derek began a career in transport planning after earning a BSc (Hons) in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Dundee and an MSc in Transport Planning and Policy from Newcastle University.
