JW Simmons has held various positions in the past 15 years. In 2021, they began working as a Sales Development Representative for Entytle, Inc. Prior to that, they worked as a Business Development Specialist for Vintro in 2020, and as President for Elon University Delta Sigma Pi in 2019. In the same year, they also worked as a General Contractor for The Joerger Group. In 2018, they worked as a Student Director for the Onondaga Community College Finance Committee. Additionally, they were an Entrepreneur at Shotwell Brook Farms from 2010 to 2018, and owned "The Stand" from 2006 to 2010.

JW Simmons completed their high school education at Skaneateles High School between 2013 and 2017. JW then attended Onondaga Community College where they obtained an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management, General between 2017 and 2019. In 2019, they enrolled at Elon University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration - BSBA in Finance, General in 2021. JW also holds certifications in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elon University, ASC Enterprise from Altus Group, and Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 2016 from Microsoft.
