Gina Vetere serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of ESA. In that role, Vetere leads ESA’s legal, policy and regulatory initiatives, including by advancing members priorities on issues related to First Amendment protections, intellectual property (IP), technology, privacy and trade. Vetere also oversees all governance and compliance matters for the organization and serves as Corporate Secretary to ESA’s Board of Directors.
Vetere has nearly two decades of experience developing and executing comprehensive strategies to resolve complex global policy challenges. Prior to the ESA, Vetere was counsel at the law firm Covington & Burling. There, she advised clients on international trade and global policy matters, including in the areas of IP, market access, regulatory trade barriers and digital trade. She also counseled clients on the negotiation, implementation, and enforcement of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements.
Vetere joined Covington after serving as executive director for international IP at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC), where she led industry efforts to promote the protection and enforcement of IP rights overseas. She is also a former Director for Intellectual Property and Innovation at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy USTR.
Vetere is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia School of Law.
