Michael Szkutak, P.E. has extensive work experience in the field of engineering, particularly in fire protection and risk services. Michael has worked at Engineering Planning and Management, Inc. since 2012, starting as an Associate Engineer and progressing to Lead Engineer. Prior to that, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they conducted studies on sprinkler nozzle characteristics and modeling suppression systems. Michael also gained experience as a Graduate Intern at Rolf Jensen & Associates, Inc., assisting with the design and modification of sprinkler systems. Additionally, Michael has worked as a Field Service Analyst at GE Transportation and as a Photovoltaic R&D Lab Intern at FLEXcon, where they conducted experiments and analyzed data. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Chemistry Stockroom Associate at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, gaining skills in laboratory procedures and techniques. Michael Szkutak, P.E. began their education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2008 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 2012 with a minor in Material Science. Michael graduated with high distinction. In 2014, they furthered their education at the same institution, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering. In December 2019, they obtained the certification of Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
