Austin Young has over 8 years of professional experience. In 2022, they began working as a Sales Assistant and Researcher at Empathetics, Inc. and as a Graduate Student at Harvard Graduate School of Education. From 2018 to 2020, they worked at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES PREPARATORY CHARTER SCHOOL INC as an Enrichment Coordinator and Civics Teacher, Debate Coach, Program Director, and Science Teacher. In 2020, they were a Data Manager at Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope. In 2018, they were a Corps Member at Teach For America. In 2019, they were a Deputy Field Coordinator at Tami Sawyer for Mayor. From 2014 to 2017, Austin worked at the University of Florida as a Research Assistant and at the Bob Graham Center for Public Service as President of the Student Fellows. In 2015, they were the Director of Field Operations at McIntosh for Mayor 2016 and an Office of Senator Bill Nelson Summer Intern at the United States Senate.
Austin Young is currently enrolled in the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where they are pursuing a Master of Education in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Religion (double major) from the University of Florida in 2018. In 2021, they earned a Mindful Schools 101: Mindfulness Foundations certification from Mindful Schools and a Professional Educator License from the Tennessee Department of Education. Austin was also a Stamps Leadership Scholar in 2014.
