Lovisa Afzelius has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Lovisa started their career at Pfizer and held various roles including Senior Director, Immunoscience RU and Head of Computational Precision Medicine. Lovisa then worked at Repertoire Immune Medicines as Senior Vice President before joining Generate Biomedicines, Inc. as President. Lovisa has also founded and served as CEO in multiple companies such as Alltrna, Apriori Bio, Metaphore Biotechnologies, and FL89. Additionally, they are a co-founder and board member of Elsa Science. Lovisa has also contributed to the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce - New England as a member of the Board of Directors.

Lovisa Afzelius received their Master's degree in Computational Chemistry from the University of Gothenburg, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. Following this, they pursued a Doctoral degree at the University of Uppsala from 2001 to 2004, specializing in Computational Chemistry as well. Later, they enrolled at the MIT Sloan School of Management, completing their Executive MBA in 2016 with a focus on Business Administration.
