Yajahira Cartagena has a diverse work experience in the human resources field. Yajahira started their career in 2002 at RINY/Florence Nightingale Health Center, where they worked as a Staff Development professional until 2005. Yajahira then joined PPHP as an HR Assistant, where they worked for two years. In 2007, they joined Cavalry Portfolio Services as a Human Resources Generalist and remained with the company until 2016. During this time, they gained valuable experience in HR administration and generalist responsibilities. In 2016, Yajahira joined Jetro Holdings, LLC as a Benefits Administrator for a brief period. Yajahira then moved on to Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center as an HR Specialist, focusing on HRIS and benefits administration.

Yajahira Cartagena attended Marymount College of Fordham University from 1997 to 2001, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, specializing in Finance and Economics.
