Sue Montoya started their work experience as a Customer Service Representative at Elevation Connect in October 2021. Prior to that, they were a Resident Artist at 4Most Gallery & Studio at the University of Florida from August 2018 to June 2019. Before that, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida from August 2015 to May 2018. Their earliest work experience was as a Visitor Services employee at HistoryMiami from October 2014 to August 2015.

Sue Montoya completed their Bachelor's Degree in Photography at the University of Florida from 2011 to 2014. Sue then pursued a Master's Degree in Creative Photography at the same university from 2015 to 2018.
