David Tinson is a dynamic business leader who has thrived driving marketing and communications transformation at global scale. He has spent more than 15 years at Electronic Arts in strategic leadership roles, and he became Chief Marketing Officer in 2020.
David leads all aspects of EA’s global marketing organization, including brand management, communications, social impact, creative and design, production, community engagement, social influencers, marketing analytics, consumer insights, athlete relations and paid media. His team works across EA’s many renowned brands and franchises, including EA SPORTS, Star Wars, Apex Legends, The Sims, Battlefield, Need for Speed, and more.
In his time at EA, David has driven the shift to digital marketing and communications, including building the company’s first direct-to-consumer communications and channel strategy; transforming the company’s approach to marketing creative, production and design; and moving to a community-first approach to marketing. His work has led to the creation of industry firsts, including EA PLAY Live, EA’s highly celebrated annual game showcase, and EA Creator Network, a community partnership program that connects content creators and players directly into the game development process. He’s also led numerous notable marketing campaigns, including record-setting player engagement on FIFA and Madden, a Battlefield 1 launch that produced some of the most-watched creative content in the history of the industry, and the surprise launch of Apex Legends, which leveraged influencers to reach a record-breaking 25 million players in its first week.
He and his team’s work has been recognized through numerous industry awards, including Gold, Silver and Bronze recognition from Cannes Lions for FIFA; Webby Awards for The Sims, Apex Legends and Star Wars Battlefront 2; D&AD Wood Pencils for FIFA; a Clio Award for Anthem and more.
