Michael Buchman has worked in the engineering field since 2012. Michael began their career as an Intern at Infinium Metals, where they designed a condenser system for metal vapor. In 2012, they became an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Thermal-Fluids Engineering II at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Michael then pursued their PhD at MIT, where their research focused on a novel method for turbocharging single-cylinder four-stroke internal combustion engines. In 2017, they became President of the MIT Maker Workshop, a student-run maker space dedicated to teaching, giving guidance, and providing access to the tools needed to successfully complete projects. In 2019, they joined Mainspring Energy as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, working on design and analysis of key linear generator systems, engineering cost down improvements, and taking successful ownership of systems. Most recently, in 2022, they began working as a Staff Mechanical Engineering Architect at Electric Hydrogen Co.
Michael Buchman attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2018, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2013, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering in 2018.
