Robert Hinz is a Senior Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Deimos Space since June 2019, where responsibilities include the development and validation of AI and computer vision solutions for satellite systems. Hinz has contributed to various projects, such as PERTEO for extreme weather detection, AI4GNC focusing on deep neural network validation, and AIVIONIC as both Project Engineer and Project Manager, working on onboard image processing for satellite pose estimation. Prior to Deimos Space, Hinz served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Champalimaud Foundation, engaging in multiple projects related to collective animal behavior and developing sophisticated tracking and analysis software. Hinz holds a PhD in Biophysics from Instituto Cajal and degrees in Physics from Technische Universität Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin.
