Katie Strausser has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Katie started their career as an Engineering Intern at Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc in 2006. The following year, they served as a Supply Chain Management Program Intern at Halliburton, where they updated work instructions and participated in a Kaizen event. In 2007, Katie was a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley and also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor for Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering courses. Katie later became the Team Lead for Robotics Academy at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Katie then worked as a Grader and ADAMS software Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2011, they joined Ekso Bionics as a Principal Controls Engineer. Katie's most recent roles include being a Lecturer and a January Term Lecturer at Saint Mary's College of California in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
Katie Strausser holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Computer Science and Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, which they obtained from 2003 to 2007. Katie then pursued further education at the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, during the same period, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Controls from the same institution.
