Sean McGinnis is a skilled engineer with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as a System Engineer at Ekona Power since October 2022. Previously, Sean held the position of Battery Engineer at Volterras Technologies Inc., where research focused on Lithium-ion battery degradation and machine learning applications for battery health analysis using Excel and MATLAB. As a Product Design Engineer at Solaires Entreprises Inc., Sean contributed to the research of solar cells and energy management systems, utilizing Matlab and Simulink for modeling photovoltaic systems. Additionally, Sean gained hands-on experience as a Coop Research Assistant at E-One Moli Energy (Canada) Limited, conducting experiments on battery materials. Sean holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria and is pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the same institution, expected to complete in December 2025.
