Taylor Barnum has held several positions in the IT field since 2012. In 2017, they began working as a Computer Technician at International Forwarders, Inc., where they managed Office 365 email profiles, Palo Alto Firewall configurations, and Avamar backups. In 2019, they became a Cloud and Managed Services Engineer at eGroup, where they identified and remediated compliance issues with over 100 endpoints in remote bandwidth constrained locations and troubleshot and remediated identity and access issues for Office 365 and Hybrid identities. Also in 2019, they worked as an Independent Contractor, performing webmaster duties at Lake Superior State University. Previously, they worked at Lake Superior State University as a Web Developer and Tech Support, where they built a website from scratch using HTTP and PHP and helped coordinate the Aquaculture Challenge. Taylor also worked as a Laboratory Assistant, where they updated and maintained an online database and physical copies of chemical Safety Data Sheets, updated inventory upon receipt of chemicals and stocked them, and made solutions for lab experiments.

Taylor Barnum obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Lake Superior State University between 2012 and 2016. Taylor has also obtained several certifications, including a Bering McKinley Certified Dispatcher from Bering McKinley in September 2021, Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Engineers from ConnectWise in August 2020, an Auvik Certified Professional from Auvik Networks Inc. in April 2020, a Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate from Microsoft in July 2019, and a Palo Alto Accredited Configuration Engineer from Palo Alto Networks.
