Mark Power has a diverse work experience in the field of photonics and optical communication networks. Mark is currently working at EFFECT Photonics as a Technical Lead for PIC Integration since March 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Team Lead for Test Development from August 2020 to March 2022, and a Test Development Engineer from August 2019 to August 2020.
Before joining EFFECT Photonics, Mark worked at Tyndall National Institute where they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher from May 2015 to May 2019. During this time, they were involved in research activities related to photonics.
Their early career at Tyndall National Institute began in October 2009, where they worked as a PhD Researcher. Their research focused on exploring novel all-optical signal processing techniques for future optical communication networks. These techniques involved modulation format conversion, phase discrimination, and clock recovery using semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) for signal manipulation in the optical domain. This role provided a strong foundation for their subsequent work in the field.
Mark Power attended University College Cork from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
