Joep Coolen has a strong background in tax and finance, with over 20 years of experience in various roles. Joep is currently serving as the Head of Tax at EF Education First since May 2021. Previously, they held positions at Tetra Laval International, where they served as the Vice President of Transfer Pricing and Tax Controversy from April 2018 to May 2021, and as the International Tax Director from December 2009 to March 2018. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Tax at O-I from October 2005 to December 2009, and as the Head of Tax at SIG Combibloc from May 2003 to February 2006. Joep also held the role of Tax Director at The Adecco Group from June 2001 to May 2003, and worked as the European Tax Director at GE Power Controls from February 2000 to May 2001. Joep's earlier experience includes working as a Tax Lawyer at Loyens & Loeff from October 1994 to February 1999, and as an Assistant Tax Adviser at Koenen en Co from 1993 to 1995.

Joep Coolen has a diverse education history. Joep completed a PON course at Harvard Law School Executive Education three times, focusing on negotiation and leadership, making difficult conversations productive, and creating value in deals and disputes. Joep also attended EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2020, although the specific field of study or degree obtained is unknown. Prior to that, Coolen pursued an E-MBL degree in International Business Law at the University of St.Gallen in 2008-2009.
