Remco Nehmelman is the Griffier of the Eerste Kamer der Staten-Generaal, serving since October 2018, and has been affiliated with Universiteit Utrecht since June 2008, holding positions as Hoogleraar and Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Constitutional and Administrative Law. As a professor of Publiek Organisatierecht since January 2014, Nehmelman's fields of interest include Constitutional Law, Water Governance, Administrative Law, Human Rights, Law on Political Parties, Electoral Law, and Law for Lower Public Authorities. Prior experience includes membership on the Dutch Electoral Council from April 2015 to October 2018 and service on the Dutch Council of Public Administration from July 2013 to June 2017. Nehmelman also worked as a senior policy officer at the Ministry of BZK from 2002 to 2004 and as a lecturer at Vrije Universiteit from August 2004 to June 2008. Educational qualifications include a PhD and Master of Laws degree from Utrecht University, completed in 2002 and 1996, respectively.
