Jay Small is a seasoned optical design professional with a focus on laser optics, currently serving as Principal Optical Design Engineer for Laser Optics at Edmund Optics since March 2023. With extensive experience at nLIGHT from October 2009 to March 2023, Jay held multiple leadership roles, including Director Engineering and Distinguished Optical Engineer, specializing in laser delivery and imaging optical systems utilizing tolerance-based design methodologies. Prior roles include significant contributions at Clean Earth Technologies, Coherent, and L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, developing advanced optical and electro-optical systems. Jay holds a Master of Science in Photonics and a BS in Physics, both from Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma, respectively.
