Carmen Carlan's work experience starts in 2010 when they worked as a Research Assistant at Fortiss. Carmen continued their work at Fortiss until 2012, during which they implemented new features for AutoFOCUS3 and developed various components and algorithms. In 2013, Carmen worked as a Software Engineering Intern at IBM, where they gained experience in Linux server administration and configuration of Openstack. Carmen also worked as an External Research Assistant at the University of York, focusing on model-based safety cases. In the same year, they joined Fortiss again as a Student Research Assistant, contributing to the implementation of AutoFOCUS3 features. From 2015 to 2022, Carmen worked as a Scientific Staff member at Fortiss, focusing on safety-critical systems and participating in research projects such as the KI-Abischerung Project, where they executed ISO 26262 and SOTIF activities. Currently, Carmen Carlan holds the position of Director of Safety Products at Edge Case Research, leading research efforts and ensuring the transfer of research to customers' projects.
Carmen Carlan's education begins with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich, which they earned from 2009 to 2012. Carmen then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science at the same institution from 2012 to 2014. Currently, Carmen is working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in System and Software Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, with an expected completion date not yet specified.
