Gareth Erfort is an accomplished academic and engineer with a focus on renewable energy and mechanical engineering. Since January 2020, Gareth has held the position of Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Stellenbosch University. In the field of industry, Gareth has worked as the Lead Wind Engineer and Senior Wind Analyst at EDF Renewables (South Africa) since July 2023, and previously served as a Renewable Energy Engineer and Atmospheric Modeler at ArcVera Renewables from January to June 2023. Prior experience includes roles as Principal Engineer at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch. Notably, Gareth's engineering career began as a Mechanical Engineer at CSIR, following a position as Project Engineer at DEME Group. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, a Master's Degree from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, also from the University of Cape Town.
