Blair Gordon has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. They began their career as an Undergraduate Summer Research Assistant at the University of Guelph, where they organized a tree sampling expedition and conducted genetic analysis. They also worked as a Supported Learning Group Leader, planning and facilitating study sessions for first-year chemistry courses.
After that, Gordon joined the University of Toronto as a Teaching Assistant, where they demonstrated and conducted microbiology laboratory exercises. During this time, they also completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, with a thesis focused on the characterization of a global transcriptional regulator in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb), the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis.
Following their academic pursuits, Gordon worked at SciHigh as a Demonstrator, organizing and conducting educational activities. They also served as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers In School Mentoring program, organizing weekly activities and supporting their mentee alongside teachers.
Gordon then joined the Molecular Genetics Graduate Student Association (GSA) as a Social Representative, coordinating departmental events and relaying students' suggestions and concerns. They also interned at Mitacs as an Enterprise Intern, gaining valuable experience in a professional setting.
Moving into the pharmaceutical industry, Gordon joined ArcticDx as part of the Medical and Scientific Communications team. They developed medical marketing materials, provided training to non-medical colleagues, and stayed updated on scientific developments in age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Gordon later joined Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc. as a Business Development Analyst, where they supported the acquisition of a $100M debt facility by creating financial forecasts and providing operational support. They also developed internal product forecasts and tracked product performance using IMS data. They then progressed to the role of Business Development Manager, taking on additional responsibilities in financial modeling and support to the CFO and General Manager of Canada.
Currently, Gordon holds the position of Vice President of Research and Development at Edesa Biotech, where they contribute to the company's innovation and growth.
Blair Gordon has a strong education background, with a focus on molecular genetics and biology. From 2007 to 2012, Blair attended the University of Toronto, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Genetics. Prior to that, Blair studied at the University of Guelph from 2003 to 2007, obtaining an Hons. B.Sc. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
