Jean-Luc Dery has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Jean-Luc is currently the VP of Engineering at ecobee since October 2022. Prior to that, they were the Chief Technology Officer at Prodigy Education from June 2019 to September 2022, where they led the Engineering Group and developed an educational e-learning platform. Jean-Luc also worked at Autodesk Canada Inc. as the Director Engineering from December 2006 to May 2012, leading a research and development cross-functional group. Jean-Luc started their career as a Software Developer at CAE in 1994 and later worked as a Software Architect at Discreet Logic from August 1996 to April 1999.
Additionally, Jean-Luc Dery has contributed to the technology community as the Chairman of the OpenML Work Group at Khonos Group, leading the development of an open-source programming environment for digital media.
Jean-Luc Dery has a diverse education history. Jean-Luc completed a Mini-MBA in Executive Development Course at the McGill Executive Institute in 2011. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal, from 1990 to 1993. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Université de Montréal, from 1987 to 1990.
In addition to their formal education, Jean-Luc Dery has also obtained several certifications. In 2020, they completed the "Machine Learning in Business" certification from the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2018, they obtained the "Blockchain Technologies: Business Innovation and Application" certification from MIT Sloan Executive Education. Jean-Luc also holds the "Pragmatic Product Marketing" certification from Pragmatic Marketing, obtained in both 2017 and 2007. Furthermore, they completed the "Financial Analysis For Senior Executives" certification from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 2007.
