Lawrence Yoder serves as the Residential Chaplain at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community since January 2015, providing spiritual and pastoral care for approximately 500 independent living residents and overseeing volunteer engagement in these efforts. In addition, Lawrence holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Missiology at Eastern Mennonite University, continuing to teach on a part-time basis, with past roles including John Coffman Professor of Missiology, where a variety of courses related to mission studies were taught. Previous leadership experience includes serving as a transitional executive at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church and pastoral duties at Union Grove Brethren in Christ Church. Lawrence's academic background is extensive, including a Th.M. and Ph.D. in Missiology from Fuller Theological Seminary and various degrees related to church history and theology from multiple institutions.
