Samantha Torres currently serves as an Ocean Lifeguard at the Los Angeles County Fire Department and an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, where responsibilities include managing CT scanning processes and specimen handling. Samantha has conducted independent research on the feeding kinematics of the Cyprinodon desquamator. In addition to these roles, Samantha is the Co-President of the Surfrider Foundation's UC Berkeley Chapter, overseeing multiple committees and fostering a collaborative environment. Previous experience includes serving as the Ocean Friendly Restaurants Coordinator, successfully achieving dining hall certifications, and coaching Junior Lifeguards at BeachSports. Samantha also contributed to environmental initiatives as a SOAR Project Intern with Grades of Green and founded a chapter at Mira Costa High School, leading a notable Meatless Monday campaign. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies with a concentration in Marine Biology and a minor in Data Science from UC Berkeley.
