Jan Krizek has a diverse work experience, starting in 2012 with a summer internship at ELI Beamlines. In 2014, they completed a research internship at UTT - Université de technologie de Troyes. Jan then worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Plasma Physics AS CR in Prague from an unknown date until 2016. In the same year, they became a cooperative associate at CERN. From 2016 to 2022, they held various positions at EPFL, including doctoral researcher and entrepreneur/post-doc. Currently, they are the lead R&D engineer at EarlySight, starting in February 2023.
Jan Krizek has a strong educational background in the field of engineering and optics. Jan obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Optical Engineering / Medical devices from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, they completed an Engineer's degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Czech Technical University in Prague from 2013 to 2016. In addition, they also participated in an Erasmus internship at Université de Technologie de Troyes, focusing on Optics and nanotechnologies, from 2014 to 2015. Before their higher education, they obtained a Bachelor's degree (Bakalář) in Nanotechnologies from Technical University of Liberec from 2010 to 2013.
Jan Krizek has also obtained several additional certifications to complement their educational qualifications. Jan completed the Innosuisse Business Creation Medtech program offered by Venturelab in November 2021. In April 2021, they acquired the PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Training from AXELOS Global Best Practice. In June 2020, they completed the Business Concept - Start-up Training provided by Innosuisse. Moreover, they have additional certifications in Optical design with ZEMAX from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in February 2019 and Product Development for Medical Devices and Biopharmaceuticals from Catalyze4Life, EPFL Life Science School in November 2018. Furthermore, they have gained expertise in the field of Management of Innovation and Technology Transfer from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne).
