Wolfgang Wirtnik has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. Wolfgang currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer at E.ON Deutschland since July 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Senior Vice President at E.ON Deutschland from December 2018 to June 2022, where they were responsible for B2C sales and retention, strategic development of sales channels, campaign management, digitalization, and post-merger integration.

Before joining E.ON Deutschland, Wolfgang worked as the Managing Director of Order2Cash at E.ON Energie Kundenservice GmbH from July 2015 to November 2018. In this role, they were in charge of customer satisfaction and efficient processes for supplier switch, energy data management, billing, and claim management.

Prior to that, Wolfgang held various positions at E.ON Ruhrgas AG and Ruhrgas AG, including Head of Sales Operations and Head of Billing at E.ON Ruhrgas AG from May 2011 to June 2015, and Sales Manager B2B and Internal Strategy Consultant at Ruhrgas AG from January 2005 to April 2008 and March 2003 to December 2004, respectively.

Before entering the energy industry, Wolfgang worked as a Strategy Consultant at Fontin & Company from January 2000 to February 2003, focusing on strategy implementation tools for large customers.

Wolfgang Wirtnik completed their Abitur in 1989 after receiving a school education in Munich, Essen, Paris, and Barcelona. Wolfgang then went on to attend the University of Bayreuth, where they obtained a Diplom Kaufmann in Betriebswirtschaft in 1994. Wolfgang further pursued higher education at the same university and completed their Dr. rer. pol. degree in Management und Organisation in 1999.
