Matthew Cowan

Aeromechanical Engineer at DZYNE Technologies

Matthew Cowan has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering field. Matthew started their career as a Project Management Intern at Flight Refuelling Ltd, where they assisted in the development of air-to-air refueling equipment for various projects. Matthew then worked as an Assistant Document Controller at Quotient Bioresearch Ltd, aiding in the implementation of a new quality assurance system.

In 2013, Cowan joined Space Exploration Technologies as a Structures Intern, where they played a role in the development of metallic structural components for F9v1.1 and Dragon vehicles. Matthew also assisted with project documentation.

Following their internship, Cowan served as an AME Senior Design Lab Assistant at the University of Southern California. Matthew advised on mechanical design for student projects, provided specialist consultation in areas such as optimization algorithms and UAV operations, and taught fabrication skills.

Since 2014, Cowan has been employed at DZYNE Technologies as an Aeromechanical Engineer. In this role, they have been a key investigator in successful DoD and NASA SBIR projects. Matthew has designed structures, mechanical assemblies, and tooling for various vehicles, and has supported design and test efforts with aerodynamic analysis and simulation.

Matthew Cowan has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California, which they obtained from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace Engineering from the same institution between 2008 and 2012. Furthermore, they were enrolled in the Joint Engineering Program at Richmond, The American International University in London from 2007 to 2008. Additionally, Matthew Cowan holds the certification of SolidWorks Associate from DS SolidWorks.
