Clarence J. Wang, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of data sciences and informatics in the pharmaceutical industry. Clarence J. is currently the VP and Head of Data Sciences at Dyne Therapeutics since 2021. Previously, Dr. Wang worked at Sanofi from 2007 to 2020, where they held various roles including Senior Distinguished Scientist, Group Head Science Computing, Translational Sciences, Vice President, Science Technology, and Director, Science Computing. In these roles, they contributed to the selection and onboarding of innovative technology and scientific collaborations, introduced new systems such as hybrid cloud computing and machine learning, and managed cross-functional teams with expertise in life science and technology. Prior to their time at Sanofi, Dr. Wang worked at Genzyme from 1999 to 2007, holding positions such as Associate Director, Research Informatics and Senior Scientist, Bioinformatics Group Leader. In these positions, they conducted computational research, guided the design and development of informatics systems, and supported genomics research teams in software and database resources.
Clarence J. Wang, Ph.D. completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Harvey Mudd College from 1980 to 1984. Following this, they pursued higher education at Cornell University from 1987 to 1993 and earned both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Additionally, Clarence was granted the Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship from 1984 to 1985, during which they engaged in independent travel and study.
