Dean Magill's work experience begins in 1998 at JDS Associates, a leading Water Industry consultancy firm, where they worked as a Systems Technician. In this role, they were responsible for various tasks, including designing and managing the company's computer network, financial forecasting for projects, managing contractors, conducting water system analysis, equipment maintenance, web designing, and producing promotional videos.
Dean then worked at Corus from 2000 to 2008, where they held positions as a Development Engineer, Assistant Mechanical Engineer, Graduate Mechanical Engineer, and Management Systems Specialist.
From 2008 to 2023, Dean worked at Tata Steel in Europe, where they served in various roles, including Manager Operational Support, Manufacturing Excellence Manager - Mills, Manufacturing Operational Support Manager, Manager Hub Services, Head of Capability & Technical Training, and Head of Central Operations.
Their most recent and current position, starting in 2023, is at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, where they are the Head of Network Alliance.
Dean Magill earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Human Resources Management from the University of South Wales, which they attended from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, they pursued an MSc degree in Strategic Information Systems at Cardiff University/Prifysgol Caerdydd from 2004 to 2008. Their educational journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Manufacturing & Mechanical Systems Engineering at Cardiff University/Prifysgol Caerdydd, which they completed from 1996 to 2000.
In addition to their formal education, Dean Magill has obtained several certifications. Dean became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in May 2021. In March 2017, they achieved Associate Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Dean also holds the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, which they received from NEBOSH in February 2015. Furthermore, they have completed the "Managing Safety: Techniques that Work for Line Management, Technologist and Process Technicians" course offered by DuPont Safety Resources in July 2005. Lastly, Dean Magill obtained the Managing Safely certification from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) in November 2000.
