Asim Munawar

Project Lead | Senior Research Scientist at DWL

Asim Munawar is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and research leadership. Currently serving as Project Lead and Senior Research Scientist at IBM since April 2012, Asim leads a pivotal research initiative focused on realigning large language models for enterprise applications, managing a team of over 10 researchers. As Program Director for Neuro-Symbolic AI, Asim oversees the strategy for next-generation AI involving more than 50 researchers worldwide. Asim's previous roles at IBM included managerial responsibilities in the Embodied Learning team and contributions as a Senior Researcher on projects involving robotics and conversational AI. Additionally, Asim serves as a Tech Advisory Board Member at Packt and holds a position on the Scientific and Industrial Advisory Board of the National Center of Artificial Intelligence in Pakistan. Asim's academic credentials include a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Hokkaido University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology.
