Kara Makohon-Moore

Sixth Grade Science Teacher at DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD SCHOOL

Kara Makohon-Moore is a dedicated educator with extensive experience in science and STEM education. Currently serving as a sixth-grade Science teacher at Dwight-Englewood School since September 2023, Kara previously worked at The Elisabeth Morrow School from September 2015 to June 2023 in various roles, including Instructional Coach, Schoolwide Curriculum Mapping Coordinator, Lower School STEAM Chair, and science teacher. Kara also held the position of Director of Faculty Development Institute, where responsibilities included providing professional development in Understanding by Design and project-based learning. Earlier in the career, Kara worked at Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a Middle School STEM Lead Teacher, planning and implementing science curriculum for diverse middle school classrooms. Kara holds a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision with a focus on K-8 STEM Education from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oakland University.
