Yuki Liao has a diverse work experience in various design roles. Starting in 2017, Yuki worked as a Graphic & UX Designer at QSC Studio where they designed an assignment management function for a productivity app and created graphic design assets for school events. In 2019, Yuki worked as a Research Assistant at ZJUIDG, State Key Lab of CAD&CG, Zhejiang University, conducting a study on cognitive difficulty and publishing a paper on visualization. In the same year, they were a Game Designer & Developer for the Genesis project, NUS SoC Summer Workshop.
Moving forward, Yuki worked as a UX Designer at the Escape project, SCADpro Future Proof in 2020, creating an immersive online concert experience for music fans. In 2021, they interned as a UX Design Intern at Alibaba Group and delivered a customer-facing redesign for a food delivery platform. Yuki later became a UX Design Lead at City of Bridges High School, leading the design of a platform to streamline internship planning.
In 2022, Yuki joined Shonan Seminar as a UX Design Lead where they researched and redesigned an AI-powered platform for teacher professional skill development. Yuki facilitated user research, prototyping, and achieved high success rates. Later in 2022, Yuki worked at a Stealth Startup as a Product Designer, responsible for product design.
Currently, Yuki Liao is working as a Product Designer at Duolingo starting in 2023.
Yuki Liao obtained a Master's degree in HCI (Educational Technology and Applied Learning Science) from Carnegie Mellon University from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Media Technology at Zhejiang University from 2017 to 2021. In 2019, Yuki Liao also attended the NUS SoC Summer Workshop at the National University of Singapore, where they focused on immersive VR experience development.
