Jia You, Ph.D.

Director of Bioanalytical and DMPK at DTx Pharma

Jia You, Ph.D. has over 20 years of experience in the field of bioanalytical and DMPK research. Starting in 2021, they have been the Director of Bioanalytical and DMPK at DTxPharma. From 2018 to 2021, they were the Director of R&D and Senior Scientist at DiscernDx, where they were responsible for establishing and managing the R&D department to develop and implement a multi-omics platform. Jia also directed mass spectrometry instrumentation evaluation, selection, site preparation, installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. From 2018 to 2021, they were also a Senior Scientist, DMPK at Regulus Therapeutics, where they designed and executed DMPK experiments to support in vivo studies of oligonucleotide-based drug candidates and had hands-on experience with oligonucleotide extraction from plasma, urine, and tissues, as well as implemented quantitative assays for measuring oligonucleotides (LC-MS, LC-FL). From 2012 to 2018, they were a Senior Scientist and Scientist at Applied Proteomics, Inc., where they developed LC-MS methods and immunoassays, led a team responsible for protein biomarker discovery, and managed discovery and product development studies. From 2006 to 2012, they were a Graduate Research Associate at The Ohio State University, where they proposed and created LC-MS methods to identify and characterize proteins and their post-translational modifications, managed lab activities including purchasing, instrument maintenance, and safety training, and detected and quantified multiple low abundance peptides with nitrosylation and nitration PTMs by developing novel target-driven LC-MS/MS methods on an LTQ-Orbitrap. From 2001 to 2006, they were a Graduate Research Associate and Student Assistant to Department Dean at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, where they performed FTIR study of protein secondary structures using derivative, deconvolution, and curve fitting methods, as well as researched the effects of rare earth ions on metabolism of Aspergillus Niger and on activity of cellulase produced by Aspergillus Niger.

Jia You, Ph.D. has an extensive education history. In 1998, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biochemical Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Jia continued their studies at the same institution and in 2002, they earned a Master of Engineering degree in Biochemical Engineering. In 2006, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Analytical Chemistry from The Ohio State University. Additionally, they have obtained three Certificates from Coursera Course Certificates: "Getting and Cleaning Data" in 2016, "R Programming" in 2014, and "The Data Scientist’s Toolbox" in 2014.
