Christian Goering has extensive work experience in the field of technology and weather forecasting. Christian started their career as a Programmer Analyst Intern at SAFECO in 1996 and was promoted to Software Engineer at Raytheon in 1997. During their time at Raytheon, they implemented the SERCAA cloud detection algorithm and gained a passion for meteorology.
In 2002, Christian joined the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they completed a Master's thesis and published it in the American Geophysical Union. Christian applied a Bayesian retrieval scheme to the USDA's ground-based UV radiometer network, which later became operational.
Christian then worked as a Software Engineer at Weathernews Americas from 2004 to 2007, modernizing marine forecast processes and consulting with headquarters in Japan. Christian then joined Weather Decision Technologies in 2007 as a Senior Software Engineer, where they authored core libraries and developed weather graphics for media clients.
In 2010, Christian became a Team Lead at Weather Decision Technologies, managing a team of 8 and overseeing product releases. Christian also served as a member of the Board of Advisors at the University of Oklahoma, providing guidance on ABET accreditation and reviewing capstone projects.
Christian joined DTN in 2019 as a Senior Architect, where they assisted with integration and support of APIs and led the design of a distributed data processing system. Christian further progressed within DTN, serving as the Enterprise Architecture Lead and leading a small team in establishing modern technologies. In their current role as a Data Delivery Architect / Lead, Christian is growing an international team and implementing multiple APIs while completing the lifecycle of legacy platforms and services.
Throughout their career, Christian has demonstrated a strong ability to lead teams, make strategic decisions, and publish guidelines based on open standards. Christian'sexpertise lies at the intersection of technology and meteorology.
Christian Goering earned a Master's Degree in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Seattle Pacific University from 1993 to 1997.
