Mike Monnik has held various roles in the technology industry since 2013. In that year, they began working as a Teaching Staff, Research Assistant, and Ambassador for the School of Information Technology at Deakin University. In 2014, they worked as a System Security Engineer at the Department of Defence of Australia. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Senior Cyber Security Consultant and then a Cyber Security Consultant at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence. In 2017, they became a Managing Consultant and Senior Consultant at Privasec, where they led the Melbourne RED team and worked on new and emerging cyber security concepts. In 2016, they became the Chief Executive Officer and Founder & CTO of DroneSec, where they worked on security and intelligence for an autonomous world. Finally, in 2020, they joined the IT Advisory Board Member for the School of Information Technology at Deakin University.
Mike Monnik obtained a Bachelor of IT Security and Networking from Deakin University between 2012 and 2014. Mike then went on to earn an Honours Degree in Gamification of IT Security - A CTF Approach from Deakin University between 2015 and 2016. Mike also holds a Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority obtained in January 2021, a Remote Pilot License (RePL) from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority obtained in January 2021, and a Cisco Certified Network Associate from Cisco.
