Sam Thomas has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.
Sam started their career at Livingstone Group in 2004 where they worked as a Surveyor. Sam then moved to Whitsunday Surveys in 2005 and continued working as a Surveyor there until 2008.
In 2008, Sam joined Wolter Consulting Group as a Surveyor and worked there until 2009. Sam then returned to Whitsunday Surveys as a Surveyor from 2009 to 2011.
After that, Sam joined BHP in 2011 and held various roles including Specialist Hardware Systems Design and Dev, Specialist Autonomy, Specialist Spatial Automation, and finally Principal Spatial Automation. Sam worked at BHP until 2022.
Currently, Sam is a Lead Software Engineer (Spatial) at DroneDeploy, where they have been working since 2022.
Sam Thomas completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology in Surveying Technology/Surveying from the same university between 2003 and 2011. Additionally, Sam Thomas pursued a Self Driving Car Nano Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Udacity, but the start and end years are not specified.
