Nikhil Iyer is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Drivetrain since August 2022. Prior to this, they co-founded Opino in September 2021 and served as a Co-Founder until July 2022. At Opino, they built a social platform and designed the backend APIs for basic social media features. Nikhil also introduced virtual coin features to gamify the user experience.

Before Opino, Nikhil worked as an AI Research Engineer at Haptik from November 2020 to August 2021. During this time, they developed the Intent Discovery service, which used clustering and graph traversal methods to create important intents for the Haptik Bot Builder.

Nikhil also gained experience as a Research Intern at Microsoft Research India from July 2019 to September 2020. Nikhil focused on understanding generalization in neural networks and built methods to improve generalization and training speed for large deep neural networks.

Prior to that, Nikhil worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Technische Universität Darmstadt from July 2018 to December 2018. Nikhil conducted their undergraduate thesis in the field of Natural Language Processing.

Furthermore, in 2017, Nikhil interned at J-PAL South Asia, where they developed a web interface for the State Crime Records Bureau of Tamil Nadu. Nikhil utilized clustering algorithms and NLP and speech techniques to match and group multiple/duplicate records for easy retrieval.

Nikhil Iyer obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, between 2015 and 2019. Prior to this, they attended Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School from 2013 to 2015. Nikhil completed their primary and secondary education at J. H. Ambani Saraswati Vidymandir School from 2003 to 2013.
