J.W. Engblom has a diverse work experience in the hospitality industry. They started their career as a Front Desk Supervisor and Catering Coordinator at Columbia Sussex Corporation in 2004. They then served as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Remington Hotels-Embassy Suites Houston Near the Galleria from 2007 to 2013. In 2013, Engblom founded their own company, Jwxyz Hospitality, Inc., where they served as the President and provided staffing solutions for hotel sales roles. They also gained new business for hotels and increased revenue per available room (RPI). Engblom also worked in sales and marketing roles at Dimension Development and Remington Hotels. In 2016, they became the Director of Sales and Marketing at Driftwood Hospitality Management, and in 2017, Engblom became the Vice President and Member of the Executive Board at The Hotel Association.

J.W. Engblom received a BSBA degree in General Business, Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship from the University of South Alabama from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2004, they studied Business Administration and Management, General, at Spring Hill College. J.W. obtained a Diploma from FMHS in 1999, where their field of study is unspecified.
