Wayne Kooy is a highly experienced environmental professional with a robust background in regulatory compliance, environmental performance, and energy management. Currently serving as the Senior Regional Environmental Manager for Northern Operations at Drax Group Canada since February 2021, Wayne is responsible for operational oversight and strategic initiatives related to environmental compliance and permitting. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Advisor, Regulatory at Cenovus Energy, where Wayne provided expertise in application management, and as Environmental Planner at Penn West Exploration, overseeing environmental impact assessments and regulatory applications. With a foundational role as Project Manager at Matrix Solutions Inc., and earlier work as Soil Research Coordinator at the University of Saskatchewan, Wayne possesses a comprehensive understanding of environmental science, supported by a Bachelor of Science in Soil Science from the University of Saskatchewan.
