Tony Thorne is an experienced engineer, who has worked in the energy sector for over 20 years. Tony started their career as a Manufacturing Engineer with Corus, before moving into the role of Boiler Mechanical Engineer with RWE npower. Tony has been an Independent Non Executive Director at Drax since June 2012. In this role, they have been responsible for managing major projects, such as the £1.4m Draught Plant Overhaul and the £1.2m External Duct Asbestos removal project. Tony has also developed scheme papers and budget sheets for a number of other projects.

Tony Thorne holds a BEng (hons) in Engineering with Business Management and European Studies from the University of Strathclyde. Tony also did an ERASMUS in Engineering at Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers. Tony has certifications from EEMUA in Mechanical Integrity Professional Certificate, from Association for Project Management in Project Management Fundamentals, and from IMECHE in Chartered Engineer.
