Mangala Sarkar, PhD, Certificate in Reg. Affairs has had a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Mangala began their career as a Graduate Research Fellow/Assistant at the Department of Genetics, University of Delhi in 1988, a position they held until 1994. Following this, they worked at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Division of Mycology and Plant Pathology as a Research Associate and lecturer from 1995 to 1996. Mangala then joined the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as a Trainee from 1996 to 1997. From there, they moved to the University of Kentucky as a Post-doctoral fellow from 1997 to 2000. Following this, they worked as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at UPMC (Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh) from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, they worked at the University of Kentucky as a Consultant Expert for a brief period before joining the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as Faculty/Staff (VRS) from 2003 to 2008. Currently, they serve as the Chief Scientific Officer at DoveMed Ltd. since June 2008. In this role, they advise on regulatory affairs, creates and reviews content, identifies clinical studies and landmark studies, analyzes research data, and mentors pre-med students.
Mangala Sarkar holds a PhD in Genetics from the University of Delhi. Prior to their PhD, they completed a Master of Science degree in Botany, Microbiology, and Biochemistry, as well as a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology, both from the University of Delhi. Additionally, they obtained a Dual Certificate in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society.
In terms of additional certifications, Mangala Sarkar has completed "Introduction to Statistics" from Stanford University in October 2022, "Programming for Everybody (Getting started with Python)" from the University of Michigan in February 2022, and "SQL for data science" from the University of California, Davis in December 2021.
