Rodrigo Gonçalves Mendes has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Rodrigo has held various management roles in renowned hotel groups such as DouroAzul, Discovery Hotel Management, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, Pestana Hotel Group, VILA GALÉ HOTÉIS, Enotel Hotels & Resorts, Dorisol S.A., Pestana Group, Madeira Regency Palace, and Belmond Reid's Palace. Throughout their career, they have served as a Director of Hotel Operations, General Manager, Interim Hotel General Manager, Operations Director, Area General Manager, and F&B Country Manager. Their responsibilities have included overseeing hotel operations, managing staff, implementing cost-saving measures, coordinating events, and developing procurement strategies. Mendes has demonstrated expertise in hotel refurbishment, opening conventions centers, and implementing new gastronomic concepts.

Rodrigo Gonçalves Mendes has a diverse education history. Rodrigo completed an Online Mini MBA and an Online Course in Digital Marketing New Trends at ISAG - Instituto Superior de Administração e Gestão in 2021. In 2019, they obtained an Executive Master's degree in Tourism and Hospitality from ISMAT - Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes. Mendes also completed a Specialization Course in Hotel Management promoted by the Portuguese Hotel Manager's Association in 2017.

Earlier in their career, Mendes pursued an Executive MBA in Marketing from Faculdade Maurício de Nassau in 2006-2007. Rodrigo holds a Bachelor's degree in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management from Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril (1995-1996), a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management from Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto (1990-1993), and a Bachelor's degree in Post Graduation in Hotel Management, Food & Beverage management, Human resources, Sales & Marketing from Glion Institute of Higher Education (1993).

Additionally, Mendes completed various certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS) from Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa (2023), e-Trainer Course from Joviform-Consultadoria Empresarial Lda. (2021), and HACCP Professional Training Course - What changes after covid-19? from Consultactiva (2021). Rodrigo also obtained certifications from World Health Organization such as Infection prevention and control (IPC) for the COVID-19 virus, ePROTECT Certificate of Approval Respiratory Infections (PT), COVID-19: How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE), and Confirmation of participation Infection prevention and control (IPC) for the COVID-19 virus. Additionally, they completed the Introduction to LEAN Tools course from HOZEN Academy (2020) and a Specialized Training Course in Revenue Management from RM Academy (2019).
