Ursula Scherdel has had a varied work experience in the aviation industry. Ursula started their career in 2008 as a Captain CE560 XLS at DC Aviation GmbH. In 2011, they joined SOLAR IMPULSE as a Flight Operations Engineer, a role they held until 2016. Ursula then moved to Dornier Seawings GmbH as a Flight Operations Engineer in December 2016. In 2018, they joined Lilium in the same role but left in June 2019.

Ursula Scherdel geb. Frankhof attended the HSB Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences from 2000 to 2004, where they earned a Diplom (FH) in Luftfahrtsystemtechnik und -Management. During the same period, they also studied at Lufthansa Flight Training and obtained an ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License). In 2005, Ursula Scherdel geb. Frankhof participated in an Auslandssemester at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica - ITA. The field of study for this semester is not specified.
